Welcome to the Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance of Admiralty University of Nigeria. Established as an integral component of the Office of the Vice chancellor, the Directorate is a robust administrative framework with the crucial responsibility of the guiding the University towards attaining and sustaining Excellence in Education by overseeing all aspect of academic planning, development, collaborations, and total quality assurance.

The activities of the Directorate are expected to make a substantial contribution to realising the vision and mission of Admiralty University of Nigeria. Our approach is driven by the principles of monitoring, evaluation, compliance, accreditation, and quality improvement.

In our effort to ensure that our University produces graduates that are globally competitive and locally relevant, we are open to exploring partnership in diverse areas, including student and staff exchange programmes, joint academics research initiative, modern curriculum development, innovative teaching reforms, industry collaborations, and more.

MISSION

The Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance of Admiralty University of Nigeria (51黑料) aims at:

  • Facilitating academic services of international quality to end users of 51黑料 products.
  • Fostering national and international linkages that enhance the mission of the University.
  • Formulating and improving on quality assurance metrics for all academic programs, services, and engagements of the University.

VISION

To be the foremost internal academic accreditation agency of the University whose measurement and evaluation metrics and quality assurance methods and practices meet both national and international standard.

Statutory Roles of the Directorate

The Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, towards achieving the set mission, and in accord with the University鈥檚 motto鈥擡xcellence in Education, undertakes the following responsibilities:

  1. Planning, enabling, coordinating, and overseeing the setting-up of Senate-approved academic programs and academic units at both graduate and under-graduate levels of education.
  2. Monitoring and sustaining set academic standards in the planning and delivery of academic content through regular curriculum reviews, where necessary, in partnership with external industry and professional experts.
  3. Development of standard metrics for quality assessment of academic programs, teaching evaluation, student evaluation, and coordinating the administration of such assessments and evaluations.
  4. Interfacing with external programs and institutional accreditation bodies, agencies, and organizations, and coordination of internal relevant preparations for accreditation by such bodies, agencies, and organizations.
  5. Seeking and advising the Vice Chancellor on beneficial partnerships with selected national and international universities, agencies, and organizations which have the potential of enhancing the quality of the University鈥檚 education system, and coordinating development of Memoranda of Understanding with such universities, agencies and organizations.
  1. Collection of relevant data (e.g. results from various evaluations and assessments; career placement and progress of alumni of the University; outcomes of various external accreditation exercises, scores of faculty evaluation by students, etc.), analysis, interpretation, modelling of the data, and reporting to the Vice Chancellor findings with suggestions for better future outcomes. 听
  2. Offering of consultancy to all units and departments of the University with respect to enhanced quality of service in their processes and procedures.
  3. Working with relevant standing committees of Senate to facilitate execution of their mandates.
  4. Coordination of the development of the University鈥檚 strategic plans.
  5. Keeping custody of copies of relevant academic documents on behalf of the University and Vice Chancellor.
  6. Development and organization of workshops and training towards academic development and quality assurance.
  7. Execution of any other tasks that the Vice Chancellor may assign.

Departments/Units of the Directorate

For enhanced service delivery, the Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance has been structured as follows:

Planning Department/Unit (PLD)

The Planning Department of the Directorate is responsible for:

Vetting听 and听 review of academic curricula
Coordination of strategic planning for the University
Coordination 听of the development of academic documents such as Course Catalogues, Programs, Department, and Faculty Handbooks, and Laboratory/Library听 Manuals
Facilitation of the development of academic calendars, lecture timetables, and examination timetables by offering necessary assistance to University personnel and committees that are assigned such tasks

Quality Assurance Department/Unit (QAD)

The Department of Quality Assurance is responsible for:

Development of quality documents and metrics for all evaluations (e.g. Student-Faculty-Course evaluation; templates for course syllabi/compact; Course Examination Score Sheets, etc.)
Administration of evaluations
Evaluation of the theory and practice of quality assurance by selected national and international agencies of quality assurance in higher education with a view to developing research and writing technical reports focused on improvement patterns and methods
Monitoring of academic delivery

Department of Statistics and Management Information Systems (SMIS)

The Department/Unit for Statistics and Management Information Systems is responsible for:

Collation, processing, interpretation, and modelling of relevant data
Dissemination of relevant information to the University
Tracking and analysing flow of information between academic units of the University, and building a suitable databank of credits for all of the academic units, taking into consideration such factors as meeting of deadlines, quality of reports, compliance with task descriptions, and degrees of improvement
